John Warburton (b.1720-d.1761) was the older son of Joseph Warburton (b.1694-d.1752) who was one of the most important potters in the early part of the eighteenth century.

John succeeded his father at their factory in Hot Lane (on the boundary of Burslem and Cobridge) in the North Staffordshire Potteries. The output was primarily cream-coloured wares.

John married Ann Daniel who continued the business after his death and became a pottery manufacturer in her own right - she took Thomas, their son, as a partner.
