BIRD, Harry (b. 1910 - d. 1975), pottery worker, Tunstall.

Harry Bird, born 10th March 1910. lived at 10, Sproston Road, Little Chell, Tunstall, died 12th of October, 1975.

Doris Ada Bird, born 9th October 1912. lived at 13, Heaton Street, Milton, died 21st February, 1969.

Started employment with Alfred Meakin, Tunstall.

Moved to James Sadler in Burslem, June 3rd 1928 (rate of pay was 35/- (£1.75p))

Left Sadler's 15th June 1948, he had been employed as the Warehouse Manger.

After leaving Sadler's in 1948 the family emigrated to New Zealand. 

When they arrived in N.Z in 1948,  both Harry and Doris worked for Crown Lynn Potteries. 
Doris, up until about 18 months before she died of cancer, on the 21st February, 1969, and Harry up until about 1970. He died of lung cancer on the 12th of October, 1975.
No doubt that living in the dreadful pollution of the Stoke-on-Trent area must have contributed to their ill health.
