Sherwin, James  born c.1790 at Burslem Potter. His father was Thomas Sherwin (b Nov 7 1746), the son of Peter Sherwin who was b 6 Mar 1722 at Macclesfield in Cheshire.

James Sherwin would have spent some time in St Petersburg, Russia, - he had a son (Henry) who was born in St Petersburg in 1822.

born in Newcastle in about 1851 and later moved to Longton and then Penkhull.  In the 1901 census he was the landlord of the Marquis of Granby pub in Penkhull and was probably the landlord of The Kings Head in Ashwood Longton in 1887. Joseph Suttis (possible variant of Sutters) said to have been born at Stoke-on-Trent.  Family tradition is that he fought with Nelson at Trafalger (1805)and after being discharged, relocated to Silver Sands near Halifax, Nova Scotia.
