c.1815 James Elphinstone born in London.
1860 appeared at the Potteries Royal Theatre in Hanley - billed as 'the celebrated London actor'
1873 He succeeded James Rodgers as the manager of the recently built Theatre Royal.
c.1888 J Elphinstone enlarged the Theatre.
1892 He died on 12th September 1892 at Douglas on the Isle of Man, where he had moved to and also had a theatre.
