TOWNLEY, James.

Harriseahead, Stoke-on-Trent.

Born 1882 at Congleton. Son of the late James Townley.
Educated at St. James' School, Congleton.

Married 1911, Frances, daughter of the late Alfred Poole.

Co-opted Member of Kidsgrove Urban District Council, 1915-25, and Elected Member 1923;
Chairman of Kidsgrove Council School Managers and Governor of Senior Council Schools; 
Secretary for The Lord Mayor's Relief Fund for Distressed Miners and Families; 
Overseer for the Parish of Newchapel, 1920-24; 
Member of Food Control Committee during the period of the Great War.
