This war memorial commemorating both the First and Second World Wars, stands in Tunstall Memorial Gardens, The Boulevard.

Two of the faces read:

"To the glorious memory of the men of Tunstall who gave their lives during the Great War 1914 - 1918"

The remaining two faces depict a wreath with the dates '1939 - 1945' inscribed inside to commemorate World War II.

We will Remember them

Nearly 1,000 names from those who fell in the First and Second World Wars formed the main part of the new memorial, along with a plaque remembering those who died in later conflicts.

On the 12th September 2009 war veterans, scouts and cadets marched from Ryan Hall in Tunstall, led by members of the Band of the Black Watch Regiment, to the memorial gardens.

From there the Lord Mayor, Councillor Jean Bowers officially unveiled the memorial, and performed the handover to the Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, James Hawley.

Pupils from Brownhills School read the Ode of Remembrance, and members of the Salvation Army playing traditional hymns.
