Was called Church Street and was renamed Hillchurch street in the early 1950's. The street was divided by the building of the Potteries Way ring road and was renamed as Hillchurch Street and Upper Hillchurch Street.

The street runs from Town Road to St. John Street. Church Street was so named because it was directly opposite St. John's Church.


In 1893 Mr. Thomas Henstock, Currier and Leather Merchant worked from 
Church Street, Hanley
