Wood & McVicar

Location and period of operation:

Wood & McVicar

Burslem

Earthenware manufacturer at  Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, England.

Very little is known about this manufacturer who must have been very short lived. They do not appear in any listings or directories.

  • The business was based in the pottery town of Burslem.

  • Two transferware patterns are known: 'Kendal' and 'Formosa' - the identical Formosa pattern was produced by the Globe Pottery Co

  • It is of interest that in 1934 the beneficial owner of the Globe Pottery Company was Harry Wood (the principle of Wood & Sons Ltd). Both the Globe Pottery and Ridgways traded as subsidiaries of Wood & Sons Ltd. So it is likely that Wood & McVicar was in someway connected to Harry Wood.
