Emma Bridgewater Ltd specialise in producing cream coloured earthenware tableware and gift ware, entirely produced in Stoke-on-Trent using traditional methods.

business was incorporated in 1985 as Brixton Spongeware Ltd. Originally
producing designs for giftware and contracting out the
manufacturing.

In
1991 a Stoke-on-Trent pottery was purchased to start in-house
manufacturing and in July
1991 the company name was changed to Bridgewater Pottery Ltd.

In
1996 the business moved to the Eastwood Works in Litchfield Street,
Hanley. The works were previous occupied by J & G Meakin.

In
May
2004 the company was renamed to Emma Bridgewater Ltd. (Company number: 1943787).

On
the 26th May 2010 the company celebrated its 25th birthday. At that time
they employed about
150 people and produced over 5,000 items per day.

In 2013 Bridgewater was appointed a CBE by Queen Elizabeth II for services to British industry.

2025 - in the Birthday Honours
list Emma Bridgewater was appointed a Dame Commander (DBE), for services
to ceramics, by King Charles III. At that time about 230 people were
employed and 1.9 million pieces of pottery were produced every year.
