  • The business was established in 1973 by John Chown and partners at Woodland Street, Tunstall. In 1977 manufacturing was moved to Berryhill Estate, Fenton. 

  • The company produces high quality, hand decorated bone china ornamental and tableware and bespoke commissions. 

  • In May 1983 Caverswall China purchased the assets of S. Fielding & Co following their liquidation. Caverswall moved their mould making and printing to the Fielding Devon Pottery. 

  • Caverswall China soon found themselves with financial problems and were bought out by Thomas Goode & Co, a long established London-based retailer of luxury china, glass and silverware. 

  • Caverswall China operated as a subsidiary of Thomas Goode but was put into receivership by them in 1986 and was sold to Bullers PLC.  

  • In 1994 Caverswall China Co Ltd was re-acquired by Thomas Goode & Co and they manufactured Goode branded ware. In February 1996 Caverswall's name was changed to Thomas Goode (Manufacturing Division) Ltd. 

  • In December 2000 the Caverswall China Company Ltd name was re-launched still with the emphasis on high quality china. 

  • In 2008 they were awarded a Royal Warrant from HRH The Prince of Wales (then Prince Charles).

  • In February 2016 Halcyon Days Holdings Ltd became the parent company. This was followed by a period of investment and reconstruction. The stated aim was to ".. create a modern operational facility which produces the finest English fine bone china."

  • In September 2023 the company changed its name to Caverswall English China Company Ltd

  • Upon the coronation of King Charles III in 2023 the company's warrant was changed to 'By Appointment to HM The King' - Fine Bone China Manufacturer.

Upon the coronation of King Charles III in 2023 the company's warrant was changed to 'By Appointment to HM The King' - Fine Bone China Manufacturer.
