notes that "The Church Street Works were established in the latter half of last century, and in 1780 were carried on by Mr. John Forrester, who was succeeded, in 1811 by Messrs. Hilditch &
Sons" The works had 3 ovens.

1811 a newspaper report stated that a Mary Price acknowledged that
she had divulged secrets of the Miles
Mason factory to a a servant of William Hilditch & Co. 23

Meigh's transcripts of the Stoke Rate Books show the occupier of a
certain hereditament as 'Assignees of J. Forester'; in 1812 as
Hilditch & Martin; and between 1812 and 1832 as Wm Hilditch,
Hilditch & Co and Hilditch & Sons." The Hilditch
