St. Thomas Place Charles Sims, was born in Newcastle in about 1851 and later moved to Longton and then Penkhull. In the 1901 census he was the landlord of the Marquis of Granby pub in Penkhull and was probably the landlord of The Kings Head in Ashwood Longton in 1887. In the 1881 census he was an engine fitter and living at 48 Ashwood.
