Some of the street names refer to the landowners (Macclesfield), others to local notables (e.g. Councillor Bowden, chairman of the Parks Committee).
Most of the houses were good-quality terrace houses constructed by local builders in conformity with the Borough of Burslem building bye-laws. A number of large villas were erected at the south end of Park Road overlooking the new park, two of which were occupied by members of the Gibson family of earthenware manufacturers [] who donated the two shelters on Burslem Park terrace.
