Mr Colclough was a Sunday School
teacher.
one Sunday when they were redeveloping
the site almost opposite to St. James into the Garage and filling
station. The workmen had found a coffin in the basement of the old
premises, A. E. Birch undertakers, and stood it up against one of the
nearby cast iron columns supporting the canopy in front of Blundreds.
On it they had put a notice to the effect of Any Offers?? It is
said that Mr. Colclough said he wasn't interested unless it had a body
in it. I think he was a biology teacher in his day job....

by the glass
