SAUNDERS, George Henry (Alderman). 
Master Butcher. 94, Church Street, Silverdale.

Born 1866 at Cookley, Nr. Kidderminster. Son of late William Saunders.
Educated at C. of E. School, Silverdale.

Married 1891, Clara Jane, daughter of late James Jones.

1911, Elected as an Independent Member of Wolstanton U.D.C. held following Offices: Vice-Chairman of Finance Committee, 
Vice-Chairman of Gas Committee and of Sanitary and Farms Committee; 
Chairman of Health, and Maternity and Child Welfare Committee.
Chairman of Council, 1917, 18 and 25-26, during which time took seat as a J.P. ; 
Member of Military Tribunal and of Food Control Committee and have held many other important offices; 
Chairman of Wolstanton Meat Allocation Committee during war.
