In Arnold Bennett's novels known as 'Duck Square'

This picture was taken from the end of Market Place and
looks down to Waterloo Road - the main road to Hanley.

One of the oldest parts of Burslem showing the Wesleyan Chapel
and just below the old George Hotel (Dragon Hotel to Bennett) The George Hotel
burned down in 1929 and was replaced with the present Hotel.
