Adderley Green Streets Past & Present

Adderley Green is a district in the eastern part of Stoke-on-Trent, lying between Longton and Bentilee and shaped by its close connections to the city’s industrial, residential, and mining heritage.

Once a more rural area, it developed steadily during the expansion of both the pottery industry and nearby coal mining, which played an important role in the local economy and influenced patterns of housing and settlement. The area grew around key transport routes such as the A50 corridor, linking it to surrounding communities.

Today, Adderley Green is a mainly residential neighbourhood, reflecting layers of change from its agricultural origins through industrial growth to its integration into the wider urban fabric of Stoke-on-Trent.
