On the 1898 OS map this street was named "Grosvenor Street" - it was in the early 1950's that it was renamed to Bernard Street.

Bernard Street runs from Lichfield Street to Eastwood Road, it is an old area of the town close to the Johnson Brothers factories. Running parallel is Berkeley Street.
