Oakhill Streets Past & Present

Oakhill, in the south-west of Stoke-on-Trent between Stoke and Trentham, developed from a rural landscape of fields, woodland, and country estates into a mainly residential district during the 19th and 20th centuries. Its elevated position and proximity to the main routes through the Potteries encouraged suburban growth, with villas, terraces, and later housing estates gradually spreading across the area.

This page lists the present and historic streets of Oakhill and links to descriptions of the origins of street names, old maps, local developments, and the changing character of the district over time. From former estate roads and rural lanes to later residential streets and suburban development, the streets of Oakhill reflect the outward growth of Stoke-on-Trent beyond its traditional industrial centres.

Today, Oakhill is largely residential in character, with many streets still preserving traces of the district’s earlier rural setting and suburban development within the wider Potteries.
