Springfields Streets Past & Present

Springfields, in Stoke-on-Trent near Trent Vale and HartsPenkullhill, developed mainly during the 20th century as a residential area on land that had previously been open countryside and farmland. The district grew as suburban housing expanded beyond the older industrial centres of the Potteries, with planned estates and new roads gradually transforming the landscape.

This page lists the present and historic streets of Springfields and links to descriptions of the origins of street names, old maps, local developments, and the changing character of the district over time. From former rural land and field boundaries to modern residential streets and estates, the streets of Springfields reflect the suburban growth of Stoke-on-Trent in the modern era.

Today, Springfields is largely residential in character, with its street layout still preserving traces of the area’s earlier rural landscape alongside later suburban development.
