Trentham, on the southern edge of Stoke-on-Trent, developed from an ancient village and estate settlement into one of the best-known suburban districts of the city.
Historically centred on the Trentham Estate and its connections with the Dukes of Sutherland, the area retained much of its rural and village character even as residential development expanded during the 19th and 20th centuries.
This page lists the present and historic streets of Trentham and links to descriptions of the origins of street names, old maps, local developments, and the changing character of the district over time. From old village lanes and estate roads to later suburban housing and commercial development, the streets of Trentham reflect centuries of gradual change on the southern edge of the Potteries.
Today, Trentham remains a popular residential and visitor area, where historic streets, estate features, and modern developments continue to illustrate the district’s distinctive character within Stoke-on-Trent.
