Blue and White

18th century porcelain and pottery wares were often decorated in underglaze-blue (that is, blue applied on the bisque body before glazing).

  Such designs were very popular and often depicted an Oriental influence, as the designs were suggested by the popular Chinese porcelains imported into England at this time.

Blue and White can be most interesting and decorative. Examples from the Bow, Bristol, Caughley, Derby. Liverpool, Longton Hall. Lowestoft and Worcester factories are often to be found.
