By 1865 Charles Osmond had bought some land behind Richmond Villa and he had a new house built in yellow brick in an elaborate architectural style. (the same yellow brick as that used later in Wellesley Street)

The school was still in existence in 1879 but had closed by 1881 when the house was occupied by Robert Reeve, 56, grocer, who employed 12 men and a boy.
