1993 restoration of the Commerce Street Works of Chetham & Son
Commerce Street, Longton
The works were originally carried on by Wooley, and afterwards by Chetham & Robinson during the 1822-37 period. After remaining for half a century in the family of Chetham,
they passed into the hands of H. Aynsley & Co. in 1873.

Demolition of the Beswick Factory, Gold Street, Longton in 2003
The Beswick pottery was started around 1897 by John Beswick, making dinnerware and ornamental ceramics. Beswick went on to produce finely detailed copies of animals such as pigs, horses, pets, birds, fish, farm and wild animals. By 1969 the Beswick pottery was sold to Royal Doulton.In 2003 Royal Doulton closed the Beswick operation in Longton with the loss of some 200 jobs..
Fire at the Longton Empire in 1993
Built in 1920 and designed by the famous theatre architect Frank Matcham it was converted into a cinema in 1920 and destroyed by fire in 1993
