Acquisition of brand names by Rayware: Following the acquisition in October 2003 of the Arthur Wood Group (which included Price and Kensington) by the Rayware Group, manufacturing was moved abroad - typically to the Far East. Although the ware is now not made in England Rayware maintains an association to its roots as an English, Stoke-on-Trent based manufacturer through its branding and marketing. Using the British Union Jack flag on packaging and phrases such as:
|

Price Kensington Potteries
England
| this mark says 'ENGLAND' and
not 'MADE IN ENGLAND' it is likely dated 2004+ after manufacturing
had been moved to the Far East
|

|
Heavily branded with the British flag this teapot is 'British Design' but not 'British manufacture'
The possibility for confusion is obvious - although the official advertising never makes the claim that the ware is actually made in Great Britain. Some resellers in on-line market places say the the country of origin is China, other mistakenly say United Kingdom and describe the ware as "Made in the United Kingdom by the trusted brand Price & Kensington, this teapot..." |
