High Grove house
Trent Vale, Stoke

High Grove was built before 1820 as it appears on Greenwood's Map of Staffordshire (1820) 

In 1881 Dr Arlidge lived at High Grove house with his wife Eliza and four servants, in addition the coachman lived in the lodge. 

By 1904 Charles Elphinstone was living at High Grove house, Trent Vale, Stoke. CE died on 12th February 1931 - he was still living at High Grove house. 

In 1932 - a year after Charles Elphinstone's death the house was owned by the Irish Christian Brothers and became St. Joseph's College. 

> In the early 1950's when many of the city's streets were being renamed Lincoln Road in Trent Vale was renamed Elphinstone Road in honor of Charles Elphinstone. 

> Grove Road was renamed Highgrove Road after High Grove House.
