Aerial photo of Burslem (1963)

 

 

With many bottle ovens in evidence and one of them emitting smoke, the Burslem scene of 1963 didn't look much different than that of Arnold Bennett's day. On the right is Swan Bank Methodist Church (yellow box) which was replaced by a modern building in 1971. 


The picture was taken from the top of the Royal Doulton factory with Nile Street directly below.
