A descriptive account of The Potteries (illustrated)
1893 advertising and trade journal.

This business was established eighteen years ago by the present proprietor in premises in Church Street, but was subsequently removed to 44, Stafford Street, where it is now carried on.

The arrangements of the place include a commodious saloon for musical instruments and attractive double frontage to the street; in the saloon are to be found all sorts of instruments, American organs, harmoniums, and pianofortes (with which the chief of the trade is done); also violins, guitars, mandolins, zithers, flutes, cornets, and English and German concertinas; there is also a large collection of sheet music, making altogether a large, valuable and most complete collection of instruments, to which are added a supply of strings and fittings of various kinds.

A good business is done in the hiring out of the larger instruments, and for the sale of these, convenient and advantageous terms are offered in accordance with the now prevalent custom; all kinds of repairs are executed upon the premises, and the work of tuning is carried out by experienced and competent tuners; in fact, the whole establishment is thoroughly and completely organised,, and the position being eminently suitable for such a trade, there is every reason to believe that the undertaking is in a flourishing condition.
