Copeland Street, Stoke-on-Trent

One of the foremost houses in connection with the building trades in the Potteries is that owned by Mr. Hubert N. Marks. The business was established in 1877 by the present proprietor, under whose management it has had a successful career, and become one of the leading concerns of the kind in North Staffordshire.

Mr. Marks' premises in Copeland Street are very extensive, and afford ample accommodation for the large and varied stocks which he holds; and there are also convenient offices for the clerical business of the house.

The stock includes building materials of all descriptions, drain pipes, laths, stone ware, cements, stone basins, slop spouts, slates, bricks and every requisite for the trade. These goods are all of the best manufacture, and form one of the best selected assortments in the district.

Large number of hands are employed, and Mr. Marks has a number of horses and waggons, so that all orders are executed with the greatest promptitude.

The position of the premises, too affords special facilities for transport purposes.

His long experience of the trade and intimate relations with the leading wholesale and manufacturing houses enable Mr. Marks to supply goods of excellent quality at remarkably low prices. His connection is of the most valuable description, including  as it does leading builders in all parts of North Staffordshire.

In local affairs Mr. Marks takes great interest, he having been a Town Councillor for seven years for Stoke Borough; he is also a member of the firm of Messrs. Marks and Greatbatch, Livery and Bait Stables, Wolfe Street, Stoke-on-Trent.
