Earthenware manufacturers at the Pearl Pottery in Brook Street, Hanley, Stoke on Trent, England

  • The original partners were James Frost, Thomas Hines and William Wood.

  • The following advert appeared in the local newspaper: "Wanted, four apprentice pressers, also a woman handler - Frost, Hines and Wood, Pearl Pottery, Brook-street, Hanley." Evening Sentinel Newspaper, 5 January 1882. 

  • On the 24th January 1882 James Frost left the business which was continued by Thomas Hines and William Wood. 

  • At sometime Frederick Winkle joined the business which operated as Wood, Hines & Winkle. 

  • Hines retired from the business in September 1885 and Winkle & Wood continued.
