1964 Reverse take-over of Henry Richards Tiles by Campbell Tile Co to form the largest British maker of ceramic tiles; the holding company was called Richards-Campbell Tiles (The Times, Mar 06, 1978).

Campbell started to produce encaustic and mosaic floor tiles in 1875 when he took over an existing tile works on London Road. This business was originally styled the Minton Brick & Tile Co., though a lawsuit forced Campbell to drop Minton from the name. Henceforth the firm traded as the Campbell Brick & Tile Co. until switching to simply the Campbell Tile Co. in 1882.

Tile manufacturer, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent. Founded by Robert Minton Taylor in 1869. Bought out by Colin Minton Campbell in 1875. Campbell continued Taylor's business initially as Minton Brick & Tile Co, but changed the name to Campbell Brick & Tile Co in 1875, after Hollins had taken out a court order to stop Taylor and Campbell using the Minton name for tile production. The firm traded as Campbell Tile Co from 1882 and was absorbed by H & R Johnson-Richards in 1968.

Previously: The Campbell Brick & Tile Co.
