  Earthenware manufacturers at the Jubilee Works, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, England
  • From 1941 Elektra Porcelain was concentrated with the Avon Art Pottery at the Jubilee Works, Longton. This was under the Wartime Concentration Scheme.

  • During the war period Avon Art Pottery were permitted to produce teapots and coffee pots for domestic sales.

  • Post 1945 Electra Porcelain operated as an associate company of Avon Art Pottery, each operating at their own works. 

  • In 1951, 1956 and 1960 directories the company officers are recorded as: Managing Director - K.W. Baxter, Sales Manager - R.L. Smith.  (the M.D. of Elektra Porcelain was C.L. Baxter - presumably the Baxters were in the same family). 

  • In 1961 the Jubilee Works of Avon Art Pottery were sold to Ridgway Potteries and both Avon Art Pottery and Elektra Porcelain operated at the Endsor Works. 

  • In October 1968 both Avon Art Pottery and  Elektra Porcelain started voluntary winding up proceedings.

The entry in the 1951 Pottery Gazette Reference Book records that the company produced...

"Earthenware - tea ware, fruit, salad sets, biscuit barrels, bulb bowls, cheese dishes, cigarette sundries, figures and statuettes, flower jugs, garden pottery, lamps (table), salad bowls, teapots, toby jugs, wall vases."

Avon Ware was listed as a trade name. 

The entry in the 1956 Pottery Gazette Reference Book records that the company produced...

"Earthenware - ornamental table ware, salad ware, butter and cheese dishes, honey and preserve jars, cake plates, trays, boxed gift lines, jugs, toby jugs, animal figures, posy rings, bulb bowls, flower holders, flower jugs, vases." 

The entry in the 1960 Pottery Gazette Reference Book records that the company produced...

"Earthenware - beakers, biscuit barrels, booke ends, bowls (bulb), bowls (cereal), bowls (flowers or fruit), cups (egg), condiment sets, dishes (cheese), figurines, fruit or desset dishes, hors d'oeuvre sets, jugs (flower), jugs (Toby or character), lamp bases, salad ware, sandwich ware, smokers' sundries, TV sets, teapots (earthenware, decorated) vases, wall vases."
