• Emery did not produce their own ware but decorated blanks supplied by various pottery companies including W H Grindley & Co Ltd, Sadler, Shelley and RH & SL Plant. 

• F. C. Emery and Sons Ltd traded from the 1940s until the 1990s. It was founded by Frederick Charles Emery  and traded as a wholesale and retail business in pottery and fancy goods. 

• Originally Frederick Charles used to buy "pots" in a basket then took them on the train to various markets to sell. The business expanded after WW2 and had warehouse premises in Furlong Road, Tunstall and then relocated, after a fire, to Scott Lidget Road, Longport. 

• His sons Eric and Roy joined the business after the war and had regular market stalls in Kidderminster, Chester and Birkenhead plus a wholesale business for other traders from Longport.

• In the sixties middle son Fred joined the business and added permanent stall in Warrington. Also a shop was purchased in Chester market and run by Fred’s daughter Hilda and a further permanent market stall was added in Coventry.

• The business also developed buying in white ware (china and earthenware), sometimes "run of kiln", selecting it themselves - selling on some and also decorating the best. The decorating was contracted out to Broadhurst Bros. in Burslem but the patterns and prints were from FC Emery (hence the logos and the ware). The decorated ware then went back to Longport and was sold through its various outlets.

• After Frederick Charles died in 1967, youngest son Roy lead the business with his brothers Eric and Fred. The business expanded with additions to the warehouse and the purchase of Bennions business also in Longport.

• With time the elder bothers retired and in the 1990s the Longport warehouse was sold and Roy continued the business eventually just with the Warrington stall.
