Empire Porcelain Co Ltd (importers)

The Empire Porcelain Co was in operation from 1896 to 1967 at the Empire Works, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. 

• Because the works were difficult to modernise the business closed in 1967

• An Export & Import Agent named The Empire Porcelain Co Ltd was known to be in operation in 2008 at  Chadwick Street, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent

• It is thought that they imported 'Empire Ware' from Portugal - this ware was marked with the original Empire Ware back stamp.

• By 2018 (at least) the business appeared to have ceased to operate, they are not listed at Companies House, have no Web Site and their telephone number "has not been connected with them for many years" 

• Although they used the Empire Ware back stamp and the date 'since 1896' - it is almost certain this company had no connection with the original Empire Porcelain Co. 

• It is not know if they used original Empire Ware patterns or produced their own
