Earthenware manufacturers at Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, England.
  • William and Thomas Bathwell manufacturered earthenware in the centre of Burslem from the beginning of the nineteenth century. 

  • 1815 - William Bathwell died in March 1815 'in the prime of life' (Staffordshire Advertiser, 11 March 1815).

  • The business was continued by Thomas & Elijah Bathwell. In an 1818 directory the firm is listed as T & E Bathwell, Chapel Bank, Burslem.

  • 1820 - Thomas Bathwell died, age 40, in January 1820 and his factory was advertised for sale (Staffordshire Advertiser, 30 September, 14 October 1820).

  • 1820 - The firm of Thomas & Elijah Bathwell was recorded as insolvent (Staffordshire Advertiser, 21 October 1820).

  • "The Overhouse works [Burslem] were occupied, early in the present century by Messrs. Goodfellow and Bathwell, who were succeeded in turn by Mr. Edward Challinor in 1819."
