Robinson, Kirkham & Co

Location and period of operation:

Robinson, Kirkham & Co

Burslem

1868

1876

Earthenware manufacturers at the Overhouse Works and then New Wharf pottery, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, England
  • Joseph Robinson was previously one of the '& Co' partners in Allman, Broughton & Co at the Overhouse Works at Wedgwood Place, Burslem. When this partnership was dissolved in January 1868 Joseph Robinson entered into partnership with Samuel Kirkham and John William Hollinshead - they traded as Robinson, Kirkham & Co.

  • In 1869 the Overhouse Works were rebuilt by the owner Edward Challinor - Robinson, Kirkham & Co moved to the New Wharf Pottery.

  • In September 1872 Samuel Kirkham retired from the business. The partnership was continued by Robinson & Hollinshead. In December 1874 Joseph Robinson retired and Hollinshead continued on his own account. It appears that the company name continued as Robinson, Kirkham & Co.

NOTE: It is likely that J. W. Hollinshead and S. Kirkham were also in partnership together as Hollinshead & Kirkham.

Formerly: Allman, Broughton & Co
