Godden - Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks - records a childs plate with this mark and attributes it to one of five North Staffordshire (Stoke-on-Trent) potters with the initials JH (John Hawthorn of Burslem, John Holland of Tunstall, John Hebb of Fenton, John Hughes of Cobridge, and John Holloway of Hanley).
