Its proximity to the Theatre Royal made the small corner Dew Drop pub a convenient watering hole for the performers to unwind in after their performance.

The Theatre Royal in Pall Mall was very close to the Dew Drop Inn

In the 1950's the Dew Drop Inn was part of the local jazz scene - these photos are courtesy BBC Radio Stoke web site.

"The Zambezi was a sort of coffee bar,
part of Hanley Railway Station opposite the Grand Hotel.
This is a Saturday afternoon gathering probably
after chucking out at the Dew Drop Inn.
Left to right Benry Dunning,
Josie, Bill Gilbride, Mick Emery,
Eric Newton, Tony Dirkin, Joe Farrell and Eric Leese
- musicians and friends practising being
Gallic in Paris, for Josie's benefit.
She was Gallic."
