The
Golden Ball, Newcastle-under-Lyme In 1851 Francis Fieldhouse was the proprietor of the Golden Ball, 4 Bridge Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme. Note: sometime the building is referred to as being in Bridge Street and sometimes in the High Street - and often with different numbers, as the buildings and streets around it changed.
In 1957 it was made a listed building - the listing reads.....

"the only timber building to retain
something approaching its original front was the former 'Golden Ball' in
High Street, formerly nos. 7 and 9 Bridge Street. This has an overhanging
upper story and two gabled half-dormers."
