Reuben Floyd - Earthenware Manufacturer - Stoke
c.1847 Reuben FLOYD (the father) born in Hanley c.1880 Reuben C. FLOYD (the son) born in Etruria 1886 Floyd, with Boulton, operated as tenants at the Cliff Bank Works. 1886 Boulton and Floyd moved to the Lovatt and Hall Street Works. 1902 Floyd operating as 'R Floyd & Co' 1907 In the 1907 directory he is listed as living at 65 Hartshill Road. The house was named Woodthorn. 1907 Floyd operating as 'R Floyd & Sons' 1912 The Potteries, Newcastle & District Directory: Reuben Floyd's residence is listed at 340 Prince's Road. In a memoir written by a granddaughter of Reuben Floyd (1847-1914) and Hannah Pace (1847-1911) named Doris Speakman Lester (1902 -), she describes Reuben as being generous to the needy as on Fridays he would give a shilling to each of the men from the workhouse who lined up at the pottery door. 1930 The company 'R. Floyd & Sons' ceased operation.
