A. T. Finney's Duchess Works, Longton

  • The date stone over the entrance is 1888.

  • A. T. Finney - 1947 onwards (Finney also operated the Blue Bell Pottery off nearby Barker Street). 

  • John and Tom Finney took over the works from their father and rand the business for a number of years. 

  • Round 1989 the business was sold to John Tams Group PLC. In 2000 the Tams Group went into receivership.

  • Around 1999 the works were taken over by Duchess China Ltd. (a subsidiary of Grimwades Ltd.)
