The White House fronting the Broad Street potworks was the home of Richard Hicks (of the partnership Hicks & Meigh

The White House was demolished after the Second World War and is now the site of the Mitchell Memorial Theatre in Broad Street.

The ABC cinema next to the theatre

This cinema was closed in 2000 - the last cinema in the town centre.

'Stanley Casino'
When the ABC cinema opened this was a 10pin bowling alley, when the bowling craze declined the building became a night club 'The Steam Machine' - such famous names as Diana Ross performed here. After lying empty for many years it became a Casino.
