NOTE: There was another architect also named Henry Ward (who designed Stoke Town hall) who was born c. 1801 in Yorkshire. He and his son practiced in Hanley.

Henry Ward was born in Forebridge (Castle Church Parish), Stafford, Staffordshire 30th August 1806

Baptised at Castle Church, 10 November 1806.

Henry was married twice. His first wife was Emma Potter, daughter of Joseph Potter of Lichfeild, they were married on 3rd March 1837 at St Martins Church, Birmingham, by Reverend Mr Foyde.  NOTE: Their 1st son William Wilson Ward was born in July of the same year. Emma died Sunday 21 July 1844 at Wolverhampton, Forebridge aged only 38 years.  Her father Joseph Potter was Borough Surveyor of Stafford under whom Henry was apprenticed.

He married his second wife only a year later, Mary Peake (daughter of Mr Michael Peake) on Thursday 16 October 1845 at St Mary's of Camberscotes near Stafford, by Rev. Price. 

Henry died at Lichfield Road, Stafford on Sunday 10th August 1884.
