On some ware (typically Jasper ware) decorations, (often in the Neoclassical style and usually white), were made in separate moulds and applied to the body of the piece.
Jasperware - a durable unglazed
porcelain
most characteristically blue with
fine white cameo figures inspired
by the ancient Roman Portland Vase.
