the
Britannic Pottery was built on the front of the Upper Hanley Works,
which had been in operation since 1863

Courtland Fireplaces was founded at
the top of Gilman Street in 1964 it then relocated
to the lamphouse within the former Hanley Deep Pit - it moved to this
location in 1993.
