black & white transferware bown

The pattern is a ‘made up’ romantic view with animals on a lake shore with trees and a boat with sails, surrounding this are vine leaves and grapes. The origins of this pattern is uncertain but it is typical of romantic scenes used in transferware printing.

Wedgwood

the name WEDGWOOD is slightly curved and this is indicative of an early mark. Geoffrey Godden’s book on marks refers to this mark (No. 4074) as "Impressed marks… or in slightly curved as in no. 4074. c. 1759-c.69"
