Samuel Moore was previously in partnership with Sampson Hamilton trading as Hamilton & Moore. In August 1858 Hamilton left the partnership and Samuel Moore continued on his own account. 

In 1862 the St. Mary's Works was built and Samuel Moore moved here. 

In 1865 Samuel Moore was joined by his son Bernard Moore and the company was renamed "Moore & Son"

Samuel died in 1867 - Bernard Moore continued to run the business, the name Moore & Son was retained. 

In 1870/2 Bernard was joined by his brother Samuel Vincent Moore and they operated the St. Mary's works as "Moore Bros"
