The site was started around 1998 and this 'what is new?' section was a useful way to keep track of the growth of more significant additions to the site from the year 2000 to 2016.

The 'what is new?' became more or less redundant as the search facilities and index system improved and so this section was no longer updated. 

However in August 2025 an update page was started which tracks updated and added pages.
